Press Release: On 17 September, a new orchestral arrangement of the emotionally-charged tone poem Khojaly 613 – originally written by French composer Pierre Thilloy as a commission by The European Azerbaijan Society (TEAS) on the occasion of the 20th anniversary of the Khojaly Massacre – received a rapt and reverential response from the audience attending the concluding concert of the Les 2 Mondes Festival at the Théâtre de la Sinne in Mulhouse, located in the Alsace region of France.

Press Release: Ali Hasanov, Deputy Prime Minister and Chairman of the Azerbaijani Republican Commission for International Humanitarian Assistance, received Elena Ajmone Sessera, Head, International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) in Baku on 3 August. Dialogue focused on the ongoing humanitarian crisis caused by the expulsion of an estimated 875,000 Azerbaijani internally displaced persons (IDPs) and refugees from their homeland due to the illegal occupation of an estimated 20 per cent of Azerbaijani territory by the Armenian armed forces.

Press Release: Internationally acclaimed Azerbaijani pianist Elchin Shirinov has brought his unique approach to ethno-jazz to two of London’s leading jazz venues – The Spice of Life in Soho and The Vortex in Dalston, performing before an international audience of around 170 across both concerts. The European Azerbaijan Society (TEAS) supported his participation.

Press Release: Around 30 Belgian industrialists and representatives of EU and Benelux institutions flocked to the Press Club Brussels Europe – at the heart of the EU diplomatic community – on 22 June to meet H.E. Bert Schoofs, Belgian Ambassador–Designate to Azerbaijan, Georgia and Turkmenistan, who takes up his position on 1 August. The event was organised by the Benelux office of The European Azerbaijan Society (TEAS).

Press Release: After an armed siege at the police headquarters in Erebuni, Yerevan, that lasted two weeks and cost the lives of two police officers, more than 30 gunmen – members of the Daredevils of Sassoun group – have surrendered. This crisis has rocked the Armenian ruling elite, as it has been a tangible demonstration of discontent amongst Armenian society, an impoverished population who feel disenfranchised and forgotten amidst the ruins of a failed state.

Press Release: The estimated one million Azerbaijani internally displaced persons (IDPs) and refugees – the ongoing victims of the Armenian–Azerbaijani conflict over Nagorno-Karabakh – have been remembered on UN World Refugee Day, which is commemorated each year on 20 June. The event took place at the Press Club Brussels Europe – at the heart of the EU diplomatic community – and saw the Brussels launch of Khojaly Witness of a War Crime – Armenia in the Dock, a landmark publication from The European Azerbaijan Society (TEAS).

Press Release: On 20 June, overdue homage was duly paid to Ahmadiyya Jabrayilov (aka Ahmed Michel) and other Azerbaijani members of the French Resistance who participated in the Maquis de Cabertat and the Third Hussars Regiment during the Second World War.

Press Release: Internationally acclaimed Azerbaijani pianist Elchin Shirinov brought his unique approach to ethno-jazz to the Festival Jazz à Saint-Germain-des-Prés Paris – one of the leading European jazz festivals – on 27 May. His trio performed in front of over 200 Parisian music aficionados, critics and H.E. Elchin Amirbayov, Azerbaijani Ambassador to France.

Press Release: The French city of Reims, located 143km from Paris, hosted an event featuring an enthralling mix of Azerbaijani business, culture and music on 26 May. This was hosted by the CCI Reims-Eperney, and organised by the French office of The European Azerbaijan Society (TEAS), in partnership with Jazzus Productions, CCI International Champagne-Ardenne and the Azerbaijani Embassy to France.

Press Release: The respected Lyon-based TV channel Euronews has facilitated an exchange of views between Azerbaijani and Armenian representatives in the battle of ideas over the legal ownership of Nagorno-Karabakh. An estimated 350 million households in 155 countries watch the channel.

The brief was to produce a 600-word article and a two-minute video setting out the legal case for legal ownership of Nagorno-Karabakh. The two organisations tasked with making these presentations were The European Azerbaijan Society (TEAS) and the European Friends of Armenia.
