An interview with Sofia Eldarova, author

With her artistic background and vivid imagination, it was only a matter of time before Baku-born Sofia Eldarova would write a piece of literature. The children’s book A Proud Violin is her first published work, combining a traditionally-styled fairytale with a moral message whilst introducing the instruments of the symphony orchestra. Illustrated by Irina, her mother, the pictures are designed for young readers to colour.

Since its launch last year, A Proud Violin has proved to be a bestseller, and has been shortlisted for the People’s Book Award, run by The Publishers’ Association. Waterstone’s chain of bookshops have also classified it as a ‘top-rated product’. In this interview, TEAS asked Sofia about her inspirations and future projects.
